What Does Brake Service Include?
Many components in your brake system wear out or break in time. This can be anything as simple as a loss of brake fluid from normal driving to a leak from a bad seal or a break in the line to air in the lines. Also, there is a great deal of force between your brake pads and rotors from the intense friction that can lead to issues. Numerous components are required to allow your brake system to work well. That’s why we recommend that you bring your vehicle in for brakes service. The first thing we do at Serra Toyota of Decatur is inspect the system to find the problem.
Types of Brake Services Available Here
- Brake Inspection: This is how we figure out what is wrong with your brakes.
- Replacing pads: A normal part of brake maintenance, your pads eventually wear down from the friction that occurs between them and the rotors.

- Repairs: Anything not mentioned above is covered here; this applies to all other components in your brake system if a problem is discovered in the inspection.
Brake Service Time Frames
How often you need services depends on everything from the make and model of the vehicle to your driving habits, to the climate you are driving in, to the quality of parts and components used in your brake system. The interval can range from 20,000-80,000, which is why it is best to consult your owner’s manual or be cognizant of the following signs and symptoms of brake problems.
Signs of Brake Trouble
You may need brake service if you notice any new sounds or reduced brake responses when you are driving. Listen for squeaking, squealing, or grinding sounds. Reduced brake response can be caused by low fluid or worn-out pads. Warped rotors are known to cause unusual vibrations you can feel in the brake pedal when you press down to stop.
