This past Wednesday coming home from work the dashboard on my Camry lit up like a Christmas tree. It was flashing things like contact dealer. Front camera failure. Rear camera failure. Parking brake failure and the list goes on. I have owned this car just a little over a year and unfortunately did not purchase from Serra Toyota (one of the very many regrets I have from doing business with the SHADY Bill Penney Toyota). Anyway this isn’t about them. In a panic I googled the number to Serra Toyota as I live in Decatur. A really friendly woman answered the phone in the service department and I explained to her what was happening. She said “we close at 6” I told her I was maybe 5-10 minutes away and she said drive on over. God bless her because I really had no idea what to do. Upon arriving at Serra Toyota I was greeted by their service manager Brian and another gentleman that was with him. Let me tell you these two men spent over half an hour trying to diagnose what was going on with my vehicle. At this point we can’t open the gas cover or the trunk. The car will start but that’s about it. I told them I would call my husband to come and get me and leave my vehicle in their care that I appreciated the time they spent trying to help but it obviously was NOT going to be a simple solution. Thursday I received a call from Brian (the service manager) telling me that the issue that shut my system down and prevented resetting my system was an “after marker remote start”. I explained to him the when I purchased the car (from a non reputable dealer) that it already had remote start on the vehicle. That I never added anything I was sold the vehicle the was it is. Well, they had to remove that remote start from my vehicle and after doing so, they were able to get my care to reprogram and come back to life. I cannot begin to sing their praises enough. I am so very grateful for the patience and care I was shown by Serra Toyota and they will have my business forever. If your looking to purchase a new or used Toyota or you just need service done on one you already own, trust me it’s worth the drive to Decatur to receive reputable service by a dealership that is honest and trustworthy.
