Over the past few years, Toyota has refined some of its existing vehicles by creating high-performance variants, courtesy of the manufacturer’s performance vehicle skunkworks department, Gazoo Racing. After the positive reception the GR-tuned Yaris received, Toyota is believed to be unleashing a GR Corolla within the next year.
Most of the news about the GR Corolla is being kept under wraps, but there is a lot of speculation from experts as to what to expect from this latest model.
In regard to performance and power, it’s most likely that the GR Corolla will pack a 257 hp turbocharged three-cylinder engine, similar to the GR Yaris. The GR Corolla may also have a six-speed manual transmission—the standard for most sports compact cars—but it could also offer an automatic variant as well.
Fuel efficiency is another factor to consider with the GR Corolla. Although the original Corolla model offers great mileage compared to others in its class, the GR version may not be as efficient. However, it’s likely that it can still offer an impressive 30 mpg on the highway.
