Standard Toyota Safety Sense (TSS)
You never know what’s going to happen on your way to work. You can’t count on your commute to be safe. You can count on Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) to provide more piece of mind. Standard Toyota Safety Sense can help protect drivers and passengers on every commute. Featuring a variety of different safety packages, TSS is able to help enhance driver awareness under normal and stressful road conditions. TSS works to help drivers during nighttime driving, mitigating or preventing frontal collisions, and helps them stay in their lane.
Toyota Safety Sense is offered in two packages: one for compact vehicles (TSS-C), and one for midsize and large vehicles.
|Toyota Safety Sense C (TSS-C)||Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P)|
|Pre-Collision System (PCS) — Vehicle Detection||Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection function (PCS w/PD)|
|Lane Departure Alert (LDA)||Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)|
|Automatic High Beams (AHB)||LDA & AHB|
Pre-Collision System (PCS)
With an in-vehicle camera and laser to help detect the vehicle in front of yours, Pre-Collision System (PCS) is able to prompt the driver to make evasive maneuvers and brake to avoid a frontal collision.
Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
If your vehicle starts to move from its lane, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) is able to notify the driver with a visual or audio alert. LDA is able to function at speeds of around 32 mpg or higher on straight roadways.
Automatic High Beams (AHB)
If you’ve ever wanted to see more of the road ahead of you during nighttime driving, Automatic High Beam (AHB) is able to utilize an in-vehicle camera system to automatically switch between high and low beam lighting. By relying on an advanced camera system, drivers may be able to see obstacles or pedestrians more easily.
Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection Function (PCS w/PD)
Pre-Collision System (PCS) can help detect what’s in front of your vehicle with an in-vehicle camera and front-grille-mounted millimeter-wave radar. The PCS system, along with TSS-P package can also help detect a pedestrian in front of your vehicle when the conditions are right.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is available on vehicles with TSS-P. DRCC helps vehicles cruise at a constant speed when the cruise control is activated and set by the driver. The system is able to detect a vehicle traveling at a lower speed than your set speed and automatically decelerate your vehicle without cancelling your cruise or stepping on the brake.
