On a basic level, the 2020 Tacoma and 2020 Canyon have several similarities. Both midsize pickup trucks are available with a couple of cabin styles, Access and Double cabs for the Tacoma, and Extended and Crew cabs for the Canyon. Additionally, both midsize pickup trucks have a couple of different cargo bed lengths to go with those cabin layouts. Access Cab versions of the 2020 Toyota Tacoma are more geared toward people who need additional interior storage and Toyota truck owners with additional passenger needs should choose the Double Cab. People sitting in the rear seat of the 2020 Toyota Tacoma with the Double Cab will have very similar legroom measurements to that of the Crew Cab 2020 Canyon. Performance Specs and Towing Capacity

Owners of the 2020 Toyota Tacoma will have a pair of engine options to consider. Base trim grades will be equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine that will be attached to a six-speed automatic transmission. It will produce 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Owners of these models will be able to tow up to 3,500 pounds. More power and towing capacity can be available with the 2020 Tacoma equipped with the 3.5-liter, V-6 that will make 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. The 2020 Tacoma can tow up to 6,700 pounds when properly equipped.

The 2020 GMC Canyon also starts out with a four-cylinder engine; however, it will make slightly more power than its Toyota counterpart. With that in mind, both four-cylinder platforms have the same towing capacity. A V-6 version of the 2020 Canyon will make around 300 horsepower and can tow a few hundred pounds more than the Tacoma.
