The elite systems found within each Tacoma model put this Toyota above everyone else.

At Serra Toyota of Decatur, we often get asked which Tacoma model is the best in the lineup or which model is the right one to buy. When it comes to getting behind the wheel of a 2019 Tacoma, there’s no wrong choice. But to help you find the right model for you, we’ve broken down the differences between two fan-favorite Tacoma models – the TRD Sport and the TRD Off-Road. Keep reading to see what sets these two models apart.

Main Differences –2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport vs TRD Off-Road

The Tacoma TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road both produce 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque with the help of the 3.5-liter V6 Atkinson-cycle engine under their hoods. Both models are available with a 6-speed Electronically Controlled automatic transmission with intelligence or a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Tacoma TRD Sport is equipped with a TRD sport-tuned suspension and sits on 17-inch machined alloy wheels. The TRD Sport can tow up to 6,800 pounds when properly equipped and the fiber-reinforced sheet-molded composite inner bed makes hauling anything in the truck bed easier than ever. The TRD Sport has earned an EPA-estimated 19 city/24 highway mpg, letting you go further between jobs without having to make a pitstop for gas.

The properly-named Tacoma TRD Off-Road is ready to take on any terrain set in its path. The electronically locking rear differential, TRD-tuned off-road suspension with Bilstein® shocks, Multi-terrain Select, and Crawl Control make tackling the toughest grounds and terrains as easy as everyday driving. Front and rear mudguards are available on the TRD Off-Road to help protect your vehicle’s paint and exterior when tackling muddy trails.
