Toyota expanding certain special edition options for 2021 model year

What is the Trail Special Edition Package?

People who love the outdoors have often turned to Toyota vehicles to help get them to their favorite places. For the next model year, our manufacturing partner is putting a finer point on that idea with a trio of popular models that will be outfitted with several interesting features as standard equipment. So, what is the Trail Special Edition Package? Future Serra Toyota of Decatur customers will be able to have the 2021 models of the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner with the Trail Special Edition equipment this summer. All Trail models will start with the base SR5 trim of each vehicle and add accessories that will increase storage and convenience of the vehicles. Let’s take a look at what buyers can expect.

Toyota won’t be making a lot of Trail Special Edition models. Only 7,000 Tacoma trucks, 5,000 Tundra models and 4,000 4Runner SUVs will be produced. Additionally, there will be four color options to choose from and will include Army Green, Cement, Midnight Black and Super White. Each Trail model will feature blacked-out badging, black seating upholstery with tan stitching and all-weather floor liners.

2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail

When the 2021 version of the Toyota Tacoma Trail is ready to get off the road, it will ride on a set of 16-inch Dark Gray Toyota Racing Development wheels that are wrapped with Kevlar all-terrain tires. The front of the 2021 Tacoma Trail borrows a grille from the top-end Limited Trim but with a special touch to help the Trail model stand out from the pack. People who plan on sleeping under the stars can utilize a 115-volt power outlet available in the cargo bed.

The truly defining feature of the Tacoma Trail is the lockable in-bed storage compartment that is also insulated so it can also function as a cooler.

2021 Toyota Tundra Trail

The new Trail version of the Toyota Tundra only adds to the full-size truck’s off-road/outdoor credibility. Like its smaller Tacoma sibling, the Tundra Trail also features the same in-bed storage compartment. Additionally, the 2021 Tundra Trail will feature the grille of the top of the line 1794 Edition with a color-keyed accent piece and a set of special edition wheels.

2021 Toyota 4Runner Trail

There are very few vehicles that will be able to compete with the 4Runner in terms of off-road performance. The 2021 4Runner Trail is almost tailor-made for camping. In addition to TRD Off-Road wheels, the newest member of the 4Runner family will also include a Yakima LoadWarrior rooftop cargo basket for even more cargo-carrying capability. The inside of the 4Runner will have a custom 40-quart cooler and a sliding cargo tray.

The cooler has a lockable lid and a freezer-grade gasket providing an air-tight seal that will keep ice frozen for up to a week.
