Similarities and Differences between the 2018 Toyota Camry vs the 2017 Mazda6
The 2018 Toyota Camry is back for its new model year, and though we know that the Camry holds a bit of weight in its segment, we’re wondering how the new 2018 model year measures up to its competitors. We’re detailing the similarities and differences between the 2018 Toyota Camry vs the 2017 Mazda6. Take a look!
One of the first differences we notice is the two models’ engine specifications. The 2018 Toyota Camry offers drivers a choice between three engine options. A 3.5-liter V6 with D-4S Fuel Injection and an all-new 2.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine, as well as a hybrid system option. The 2017 Mazsda6 does not offer a hybrid powertrain to its drives. In addition, the engine that you will get in a Mazda6 is the 2.5L SKYACTIV-G® 4-cylinder engine. The Mazda6 does not offer the ability to upgrade to a more powerful engine like the Camry does.
Size and Capacity
Both of these models will give you roughly the same dimensions. The 2018 Toyota Camry is 192.7 inches long and the Mazda6 is 191.5 inches long. So, body shape will be similar in these two sedans, which is to be expected. However, the 2018 Toyota Camry has refreshed its design for the new model year. The model had three major goals for its revitalization. First, the Camry should have a distinctive, low center of gravity that produces a firm wide stance. The second goal was to create a practical and stunningly styled cabin profile. And the third goal was to create a sporty and upscale image both in the interior of the Camry and the exterior. No matter the exterior or interior, the Camry features revamped styling that takes its athleticism and sleek profile to the next level.
Audio Technology Platform
Though both the 2018 Toyota Camry and the 2017 Mazda6 have infotainment technologies, the 2018 Toyota Camry features the upgraded Entune™ 3.0 system. This new system features navigation and App Suite Connect for every model grade of the Camry lineup. The Mazda6 does not offer these types of features as standard applications on their MAZDA CONNECT™ platform, as drivers need to upgrade to higher trim levels to access these amenities. Furthermore, the 2018 Toyota Camry, on its upper trim levels, will offer the availability of WiFi Connect Powered by Verizon. This system makes your Camry a hotspot on the road so you can stay connected wherever the road takes you. The 2017 Mazda6 does not offer this feature on any trim, or on any model in the full Mazda lineup.
Active Safety Features
The last difference we want to bring to your attention is the integration of advanced, driver-assistive safety technology. Both models feature their own version of active safety technologies, however, the 2018 Toyota Camry will offer Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P) as a standard feature on all trim levels. The 2017 Mazda6 only offers its suite of driver-assistive features on the upper trim levels.
There are many more differences and similarities between the 2018 Toyota Camry vs the 2017 Mazda6 that we could mention, but the bottom line is that the 2018 Toyota Camry not only stands up to its competitors, it motors past them.
