Tips Cooking for Father’s Day At Home

Is your dad more of a homebody and would much rather cook some steaks on the grill to celebrate his special day? You can let him enjoy other things while you take over the grill. After arguing about the best places to go out to eat, our team started discussion their best tips for cooking a steak. We can understand if this seems a little intimidating, a steak can be a pricey meal to make, only to ruin it with a costly mistake. This advice should be helpful

Let the steak rest — Simply pulling the steaks out of the fridge and slapping them on the grill is a rookie mistake. The best chefs let them sit out for at least 30 minutes so the temperature can stabilize. Also, be sure to let them rest again for five to 10 minutes after you finish cooking them.

‘Tis the season for seasoning — While your raw steaks are resting, be sure to season them generously with salt and cracked black pepper. By starting this process right away, the seasoning can work its way into the meat as much as possible.

Start hot — Whether your pan-frying or cooking the steaks on the grill, you will want to make sure the surface is as hot as possible. This will caramelize the outside and lock-in the juices.
