The full 2019 4Runner lineup is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 DOHC 24-valve engine with Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing paired to a 5-speed Electronically Controlled automatic transmission. This combination allows drivers to tow up to 5,000 pounds and generates a heart-pounding 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. 4×2 Toyota 4Runner models feature a rear-wheel drivetrain with Automatic Limited-Slip Differential and offer 9 inches of ground clearance. A part-time 4WD system with Active Traction Control is used in the SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, and TRD Pro 4×4 models. Limited and Limited Nightshade Edition 4×4 models feature a full-time 4WD system with Active Traction Control and Torsen® limited-slip center differential with locking feature.
