For safety features, the Tacoma gets a number of updates and includes even more standard safety equipment than previous model years. First, the Toyota Safety System is included as standard equipment in the 2018 Toyota Tacoma. This system includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Smart Stop brake override technology (SST). Every Tacoma comes equipped with an advanced airbag system.
In addition to these features, the Tacoma gains Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) as a standard amenity. This suite of active, driver-assistive safety includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Sway Warning System (SWS), Automatic High Beams (AHB), and High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC).
